What do you want to find?

Welcome to my AS Level Media blog! I have been keeping up to date with all my progress featured on this blog and have endeavoured to use as much detail as possible! Alongside my blog, I have a blue portfolio of which holds some of my main storyboards and ideas for each of the tasks set by our teacher. I intend both the blog and my portfolio to be crammed full of ideas and information. Enjoy!

On the Sidebar, from the months presented choose September. Scroll to the bottom of the page and this will bring you to the beginning of my journey.

'The Ring'

In our class, we are still continuing with presentations on Horror film openings. Last lesson, we looked at Luke Mably's presentation, listened to his points, and made my own points and ideas on the opening I saw. The projector wasn't very good, and so some scenes were dark and out of focus.

At first, we get the writing appear on the screen - Wednesday
It dissolves away slowly, setting the scene
The number 12 is shown. 12 is a dozen. This could symbolise how many hours in the day, how many hours are left, how long they have to live or something along those lines.
The main character is blonde which immediately puts you into suspense as blonde female characters seem to be more vulnerable and innocent.
The colours in the opening of this film are black and red.
There is a warm glow on the face of the female, representing her as the victim - or that she has a fear she has to confront.
There is anger and arguments ensue
There are then supernatural happenings around them as they are arguing, again reinforcing the genre to be horror.
The male character shows his hold over the female and begins to smash up the living room.
Creepy foreboding music ensues the characters.
The male character then picks up an axe - threatening.
Teamwork suggests they are a united couple.
Old TV - screen flickers and stops on a grey fuzz.
Quiet screams echoes.
Clouds moving across the sky - quick/hastens - time is passing by
7 days to live after watching the video.
Isolated tree could represent the woman victim that she has been singled out.
Flys - dirty - irritating and distracting
Phone call tells them they've 7 days to live - in background - always in their subconscience
Smashing/angry - no control over the situation - messed up hair and clothes - ruffled
Long shadows - waited a long time, now time is up - foreshadowing events.
More red colours are incorporated - more danger
The Ring - interested in her - background is blurred - camera follows her.
Green - creepy eery colour.
Light and dark contrast - light (heaven) - dark (hell)
Death is staring them in the face.
Water is rising and nails are lifting out the floor somethings lurking - reinforces genre.
Some mystical force is coming to get her.
Water is a natural, pure source - yet seems black and deathly
Slow - motion - emphasis is put on the loss of his wife
Light is reflected in his eyes and looks as if he is crying
